How It Works
HOW WE ENGAGE
Engagement Structure
Engagements are typically structured over the course of one academic year, reflecting leadership transition cycles, governance rhythms, and inspection timelines. All support is delivered online, allowing flexibility across locations and time zones.
Meetings & Format

Individual mentoring sessions
Two confidential one-to-one meetings per month Each session lasts approximately 60 minutes Conducted via secure video call (e.g. Zoom)

Annual total
Approximately 20–24 individual sessions per leader

Principal–Deputy joint sessions (where applicable)
Typically one joint session per term, focused on leadership alignment, role clarity, and communication

Between-Session Advisory Support
Limited advisory support is available between scheduled meetings to allow leaders to:
-
Sense-check decisions
-
Prepare for high-stakes conversations
-
Reflect on emerging issues
This support is advisory only and does not involve directing actions or making decisions on behalf of the school.

GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK
Governance & Confidentiality
Confidentiality is fundamental to this work. All discussions are treated as strictly confidential, except where disclosure is required by law or explicitly agreed in advance.
North Star School Leadership Advisory operates in an advisory, not directive, capacity. The service does not interfere with board governance, replace accountability structures, or provide reporting on individual performance.
Where appropriate, limited and clearly bounded liaison with board leadership may be agreed while protecting leader confidentiality.
