Professional Journey

2010

Started working in education with experience across classroom teaching, middle leadership, and senior school leadership at primary level in Ireland.

2017

Appointed Deputy Principal, focusing on leading staff teams, supporting professional practice, and managing complex organisational issues.

2020

Serving as Principal of a primary school in Ireland, working closely with boards and leadership teams through periods of change, accountability, and external scrutiny.

Teacher Education &
Mentoring

Alongside my school leadership role, I have worked as a tutor with Hibernia College, supporting and assessing student teachers as they trained to become qualified teachers. This work involved guiding trainees through academic coursework, reflective practice, and the practical application of teaching and learning, while maintaining high professional and ethical standards.

Leadership Transitions

Across these roles, I have developed a particular interest in leadership transitions, particularly the early years of appointment to senior positions. Having experienced these transitions firsthand, I understand the professional pressure, complexity, and isolation that can accompany senior leadership roles—especially in contexts where governance, inspection, and reputation carry significant weight.
